The World Heritage Online Map Platform is an upcoming online Geographic Information System (GIS) for World Heritage. This web-based platform will visualize georeferenced boundaries and buffer zones of World Heritage properties in Europe and North America on an accessible and interactive digital map.

UNESCO is currently collecting GIS data (e.g. ESRI Shapefile, OGC GML, GeoJSON) to populate the online platform, inviting States Parties to share this data for the World Heritage properties located on their territory. Providing digital geospatial data for World Heritage properties on an accessible online platform will greatly contribute to the monitoring of their state of conservation. In order to streamline the data collection, we are inviting you to fill in this online form to submit your GIS data.

by 30 June 2022 at the latest (midnight Paris time, UTC+1).

By filling in this submission form, I acknowledge that the GIS files will be published by UNESCO on the website of the World Heritage Centre in order to ensure transparency, access to information and to facilitate the monitoring of World Heritage properties through geospatial data. 

The sole responsibility for the delimitation of the boundaries and buffer zones of World Heritage properties lies with the State Party concerned. The publication of the World Heritage boundaries and buffer zones does not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever of the World Heritage Committee or of UNESCO concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its boundaries.

Please note that the data submitted will be verified with the State Party World Heritage National Focal Points prior to publication on the web platform.
